The year is 4017. A nuclear war decimated the world in 2250. Cities, landmarks, entire masses were wiped out with the push of a button. Only the brightest minds were given prior notice and stowed away in bunkers that saved their lives, even though some of them were quite certain that even hidden away while the war blazed above, humanity would be wiped out. Extinct by it's own hand. Fortunately, that was not the case.
New generations were born within the bunkers. Generation after generation, until humanity finally took to the only safe place that was left. The seas. In the matter of a century, multiple cities were built, technology was advanced at a rapid speed with the smartest people at it's hands. When the lands became poison, the seas offers the perfect getaway and, within time, the radiation on the lands dissipated and the greenery grew lush again. People used what they were taught and what they could find from early days, mixed it with their technology, and created a new agricultural regime that managed to grow food and plants used in every important (and some not so much) find in the times.
In every cluster that was built, the cities were made the exact same way: One large viewing room with comfortable seating where people can hang out or do whatever and four sections split into four categories. Security and Medical, those that are the police, the guards, those that keep the people safe and go to the mainland to hunt for meat. This is also where the doctors and nurses work within the infirmaries and make sure everyone is physically healthy. Research & Education, where the scientists and geniuses do their work to further the clusters and the next generation are taught. Agriculture, those that grow the food and make sure the water is filtered. Those that keep everyone fed and healthy. And last, Recreation and Maintenance. This is where everyone comes to unwind after a long day's work. Bars, restaurants, arcades, spas, anything that anyone can think of to help them unwind. This is also where everyone who makes sure that everything is up and running works from.
Underneath all of this, the living quarters wind down into the depths of the waters, ranging from sunshine to darkness. Each one comes with its own attributes. Whether it's a one, two, three or four bedroom. Three different floorplans for each set of rooms gives the tenant a choice in their preferences as well, whether it's floor 1 or 100. Everything you could want is right there at your fingertips and ready for your needs.
Underneath all of this, the filtering system sits on the bottom of the ocean floor, taking in water and filtering it through the cluster. Everything in the clusters are safe for consumption and use. This is the same on every cluster, but you have ended up on Aequorea. Aequorea is at the forefront of technological breakthroughs.
One such breakthrough accidentally opened a rift in the dimensional tissue that has started bringing people from other realities into this one. This is your new home. Do enjoy yourself and try not to break anything. Sure, it can be fixed, but that doesn't mean it's not a pain to do so. Feel free to buy your own small vessel as well. Boats are abundant and an easy way to move around (just don't go to the mainland, it's unsafe). Most people even find boats nice to relax on. You may like it yourself, as well.

To protect and serve. The police officers of the APD take that vow to heart and do just that. Regular rounds on the cluster, looking into crimes committed and keeping Aequorea safe at all hours is what our men and women in blue are all about. Jailers watch the criminals waiting to be transferred to Turritopsis, the prison cluster. Land Rovers go to the mainland in order to find meat and new plants. They're a mix of hunters and scientists. The security section is also made up of several other employees.
• Rank: Natasha Romanoff (Lieutenant), Jim Gordon (Lieutenant)
• Detectives: Veronica Mars
• Deputies: Jordan Raushark, Dean Winchester
• Cadets: Stiles Stilinski
• Jailers: Bucky Barnes
• Land Rovers: Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, Jo Harvelle (Titanic!Verse), Derek Hale
• Misc: Ricardo Ramirez-Rodolfo (Computer Forensics), Alec Lightwood (Trainer)
Here, at Aequorea Hospital, patients are treated with the utmost care. If they can be treated here, then they are. If not, they are sent to the Medical Cluster, Pelagia. Further training for any medical staff that is pulled to Aequrea is required. The sad truth is that people die. When that happens, they are sent to the morgue where the dedicated men and women take care of their bodies and carry out their last wishes.
• Leonard McCoy (Doctor), Liv Moore (Morgue), Ziggy Delany (Nurse)
These ladies and gentlemen keep the Cluster going. Whether it's fixing boats, filters, technology, mechanics, they're the ones that keep everything afloat. Anyone who joins these ranks needs to get the training to do so, then they're home free to go anywhere they like.
• Tony Stark
Science & Research
Science and Research is so important in these times that each Cluster, except two, have an entire wing dedicated to it. The scientists and researchers, lab rats and geniuses work here. It doesn't matter what plans they're hatching. Aequorea pretty much gives them the run of the wing to do with as they please as long as it doesn't break the law.
• Tony Stark, Molly Weasley II
The Education wing is shared with the Science/Research wing. Every class is taught here from Pre-School to College and is meant to further the bright young minds of tomorrow. The head of Aequorea's Education, principals, secretaries for the school board, teachers, they all work in the Education wing.
• Sharon Carter (Russian/German/French Professor), Venny Zimmermann (math professor)
Every book that has been written has a copy in the Aequorea Library. Any book that was found from the before times and every book written afterwards. Discoveries upon discoveries. Fiction, Nonfiction, etc. It all resides here, which is found in the Education section.
• Rose Weasley (librarian)
Each Cluster has it's own set of magazines that get sent from all over the world. Aequorea is responsible for it's own newspaper (The Aequorea Times) and the magazines, Lifestyle, Teen Dream, Animal Monthly, Music Mania, and Fashionista.
• The Aequorea Times:
• Teen Dream:
• Animal Monthly:
• Music Mania:
The farmers are a much needed resource to all the Clusters, not just Aequorea. They tend the food and medicine that's grown. Fruits, vegetables, they all need someone to make sure they're in healthy order and it's the farmers that grow and cultivate everything that Aequorea needs that can be grown.
Money makes the world go round. And while it's less of a hassle now than it was in the past, it still needs to be protected. That's what the bank and it's guards are for.
Everyone loves art. No matter what, art can be seen in everything and that's what The Gallery is for. Budding young artists and well known ones alike have their pieces displayed in The Gallery. It's the pivotal art gallery amongst all the Clusters.
• Kieren Walker (guide)
What would the world be without a museum to showcase everything that's happened in the past? Aequorea is no different. It has remnants of everything, the good and the bad. If you need to know anything about the past, this is the place to go. Everyone who works here is knowledgable about everything the museum holds.
• Thor Odinson (tour guide)
Everything you need in one place. From food to necessities and simply stuff you may want. It's this time's Walmart and Target, but on a much bigger scale. Here, you can find absolutely anything you need. The Grocery Store gives one stop shop a brand new, and much more literal, meaning.
• Castiel (sales associate), Amy Dyer (sales associate)
Fine dining at it's best. This is one of two high class dining establishments on the Cluster of Aequorea. Do not come here in casual clothes as you won't be able to even get through the doorway. They serve only the highest class meals and the finest wines and it costs a pretty penny to reserve a table. But please, your patronage is always welcome, provided you're appropriately dressed, of course.
Le Escallier du Bistrot
The second of the fine dining establishments. While it's less uppity about the dress code, they do ask you to wear something presentable. Fine wines, delectable food and delicious desserts have this restaurant reved about.
• Isabelle Lightwood (hostess)
A casual dining restaurant with a focus on sugar desserts. There's a bit of sweetness in every dish this place serves and customers are often repeat on the regular.
• Kate Fuller (waitress)
Everything anyone orders here is made from scratch, thus, the name. Sure, the orders may take a little longer to make it to your table, but if you like it made fresh, this is the casual dining place for you.
Jack of Cups
A family style restuarant modelled after log cabins that were talked about by the old ones and pictures seen in books. Come enjoy the buffet and good cooking here, which has a focus on all kinds of barbecue.
With tables covered in picnic blankets and an aura of grandmother's kitchen, Belle's is a family style dining restuarant with class and all the nature of soul food at it's best. Opened by Belle Grand, who was a grandmother herself, when Aequorea first opened, the restaurant has since become a staple of the Cluster and everyone loves it.
Twisted Oak Café
With rustic walls and windows that look out into the sea, Twisted Oak is meant to resemble a tree under the sea. The place boasts great coffee, sandwiches, salads and a fantastic atmosphere.
• Dawn Summers (barista)
Lazy Day Café
In the complete opposite of Twisted Oak, Lazy Day is bright and airy with modernized seating and appliances. It focuses on espressos and more of the luxury coffees and treats rather than the typical low key stuff.
• Erica Reyes (barista)
Classic arcade games, computer games, console games, Pixel has it all. It's your one stop shop for gaming with a group if you don't want to do it at home. It also boasts a bowling alley, laser tag, grill and drinks, as well as a theater with comfortable recliners where the employees bring your food and drink to you while you enjoy your film.
A park inside a dome? Why yes. Aequorea park takes up the entirety of the topmost floor in the recreational section so that whoever is there can enjoy the grass, trees and sunlight coming in through the glass above. Sections of the top can be opened in order to naturally water the plants and for those out to enjoy a light drizzle, should they be so inclined.
Aequorea Gym & Spa
Health is a big deal in Aequorea. That's why there's an entire half of a floor dedicated to a gym that has state of the art equipment, trainers, classes and everything else one can imagine at a top gym. The other half of the floor is the spa. Complete with mud baths, facials, sauna, massages of all different types and everything else that you can imagine in a state of the art spa. You can get a dual membership for the gym and spa for $70 dollars a month and enjoy everything that both places have to offer.
• Kate Bishop (part time yoga instructor), Sharon Carter (part time self defense instructor), Magnus Bane (nobody's sure)
Fashioned in order to mix the feel of the old timey bars with the modern times, Barley's has the warm coloring and brick look to the insides. It's low key and the atmosphere is that of a Cheers feel.
• Sandy Nash (head bartender), Natasha Romanoff (part time bartender), Jo Harvelle (bartender)
Unlike Barley's, Lucky's is a little more upscale. LED lights, cool coloring and a bit louder music than Barley's. The patrons tend to enjoy a little dancing, a little pool, darts and a band every Friday night.
Twin Peaks seems more like a bar and club mix than a simple bar. Boasting several pool tables, darts, a larger dance floor than Lucky's and bands every Wednesday and Friday, Twin Peaks seeks to open up to the younger crowd than the older.
• PJ Halliwell (bartender)
Cherry's is the only strip club in Aequorea, so it makes certain that it's patrons get what they want in order to keep them coming back. The girls keep themselves healthy. The bouncers are always alert. The bartenders are always moving. The music is always on point. Sure, some of the girls have sex for money, but slipping a little to the manager always keeps him off their back.
• TJ Leonard (Dancer), Rose Hathaway (bouncer)
Utopia is one of three clubs in Aequorea. It's signature is that, instead of tables and chairs, Utopia is littered in beds for the patrons to relax on if they're not up at the bar drinking or dancing in on the multiple dance floors the place has. Decorated in disco balls as well, the light show is always a great one when the music gets going, managing to be synced to whatever is playing.
• Seth Gecko (Bouncer), Richie Gecko (Bartender), Spike (bouncer)
The only club in Aequorea build around a splash pool. It's also the only one with cage dancers and offers up some of the best music to dance to as well as signature drinks.
A little more upscale, the Purple Lounge gets it's name from the owner's favorite color (which is often found in the lighting).
DON'T BE A DOUCHE
There is a reason this rule is first in line. All too often we find ourselves having to defend ourselves for no other reason than we disagree with someone else. This is meant to be fun. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Basically, don't harass people. If they want to plot with you, cool. If not, well, don't push. If we find out that you're actively engaging in flaming, harassing, or making other players uncomfortable in any way, shape, or form, or you're a part of a community like or others like them, YOU WILL BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY. No questions, no reprieves. You will be gone. That kind of behavior is juvenile and will not be tolerated.
DON'T IGNORE PEOPLE
No one likes to feel like they're not wanted in a game. Feeling like the local leper flat out sucks. Make an effort to toss characters together that wouldn't normally be in the same room. It makes things a lot more fun that way.
DON'T GOD MOD / METAGAME
Plain and simple. Don't use another person's character in any way unless you have the mun's permission. It just cuts down on a lot of stupid crap that way. And don't bring knowledge of OOC things IC (that includes knowledge you have that your character shouldn't and if you get into a fight with someone who has a character yours is involved with, don't take it out on the character).
This is one of those games that's meant to be a release from everyday plot. Enjoy it!!
Keep your play-bys believable. Obviously you're not gonna use a forty year old for a teenager and a teenager for a forty year old. Think people.
TYPICAL MISTAKES IN ROLEPLAY
If your character comes in a certain way, don't suddenly make them do a one-eighty without having a damn good reason. No one's personality changes overnight. Make it work over time. Pregnancies, should they happen, will take nine months to play out. And don't use miscarriages as a form of birth control. If we catch you doing it, you only get one warning.
As a player, you are required to post a thread every two weeks. Journal posts in the network are optional. When a hiatus is needed, just let us know. And if you feel the need to leave, tell us. No harm, no foul.
There is a 10 character max per player!! If you cannot keep up with all 10, you will be asked to drop some.
All original characters will be residents of Aequorea City. They are human and have lived in the Cluster their entire lives. No exceptions.
We all know people have different tastes. Some like their icons sexy, some like them bland, some like them colorful and hell, there are even some that like them black and white. But please. If you're going to have a sex icon, make sure its tastefully cut and that there are no "parts" showing. Some people are offended by that sort of thing. Also, make sure that the icons are of YOUR PB!! If there are things pertaining to something that's not game related, they shouldn't be there. Plain and simple. Use common sense, people.
Keep profiles clean and readable. Follow the app and make sure that the profile is in an entry in your journal and unlocked.
MOD'S WORD IS LAW
Yes, we'll discuss things with you. We don't mind compromising. But getting your own way all the time is not going to happen. Mod's word is FINAL. Don't argue, don't bitch, don't cry. Deal with it. You don't like it, don't join. And this doesn't exclude members already in game. If you can't follow the rules, leave.
WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO KNOW ABOUT AEQUOREA CITY?
Aequorea is just one of many clusters where humanity has taken root in this new time. Each cluster can house 20,000 people and caters to everything that anyone may need. Algea, Plankton and Mollusks are farmed underwater, while fruits and vegetables are farmed on the surface. A field of water turbines on the ocean floor generate energy from the ocean currents in order to power the Clusters. The geometry of the Clusters couneract the motion of the waves.
WHERE DOES MY CHARACTER SHOW UP WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT AEQUOREA?
As your canon character sample states, your character is pulled through a rift in the continuum and straight into the main lab in Aequorea. They explain things to you once you've calmed down (by their means or your own) and from there, you're free to go where ever while your identification cards are being made.
WHAT IS THE LORE IN AEQUOREA?
Each fandom has it's own Lore behind it. This would still remain the case should the characters from that fandom end up in Aequorea. Wouldn't you want to meet someone who is the same as you... but different?
CAN I JUST COPY/PASTE MY CHARACTER'S CANON FROM THEIR WIKI PAGE?
Absolutely not. We want to read about the character from your side of writing. By all means, use the wiki page for reference, but write the history/personality/etc. out yourself.
CAN I NPC CHARACTERS I NEED?
Unless those characters are children or OCs, no.
I'VE WRITTEN MYSELF INTO A CORNER. CAN I RETCON MY CHARACTER?
While your character cannot be retconned, they can be given knowledge on future events. But to do so, they must be sent to the lab where they will be put into a memory pod for a week and shown the events that they lived in their own world. During this week, that character cannot be played.
THE CHARACTER I WANT TO PLAY IS IN GAME ALREADY, BUT THERE'S A BOOK/FILM/SERIES VERSION OF THE CHARACTER TOO. CAN I PLAY THEM?
Only if there is a significant difference in the characters can you play the same one. If it's close to the character already in play, no. For instance, Harry Potter film/book characters are similar, whereas From Dusk Till Dawn film/series characters are significantly different because different things happened to them.
CAN MY OC BE FAMOUS?
The famous of Aequorea (read: Actors/Actresses, Musicians, Reality Stars, etc.) live on a completely different Cluster just for them. If you want your OC to be famous, they must be retired, or in the case of an Author, using a psuedonym and not blabbing about it to everyone.
CAN MY OC HAVE THE FACE OF ANOTHER?
Simply put, no. No two OCs can share the same face unless they're are biologically twins. Fandom characters, however, are likely to share the same face between fandoms.
CAN MORE THAN ONE VERSION OF THE SAME CHARACTER IN A FANDOM EXIST?
As long as the character is canon (ie: at least mentioned) in another verse (ie: any visited upon verse that is different from the original), the character can be played.
CAN MY CHARACTER BRING ANYTHING WITH THEM?
Your character was ripped through a dimensional tear, so to speak. So whatever your character may have been holding, wearing, etc. will be brought with them. Obviously, this does not include large things such as a car (sorry, Dean).
CAN MY CHARACTER HAVE A PET?
Of course they can. Dogs, cats, fish, birds, snakes, they've all survived. And some may have even been in your possession when you were pulled to Aequorea. If not and you want one, talk to a Land Rover. They go searching the land for meat and might be able to catch something to bring back for you.
WHAT IF MY CHARACTER IS A MINOR?
Any character 16 and younger that is pulled through the rift is placed with a foster family until they are able to (or can prove beforehand) that they are able to live on their own.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CLUSTERS?
There are many other clusters, but the ones of note are the clusters, Cannonball (which is strictly recreation in the same vein as Vegas), Malo Kingi (the cluster where celebrities live), Pelagia (the medical cluster), and Turritopsis (the prison cluster). Other noted residential clusters in the same vein as Aequorea are Atolla, Aurelia, Carukia, Cassiopea, Chironex, Chrysaora, Cotylorhiza, Craspedacusta, Diplulmaris, Drymonema, Gonionemus, Hysoscella, Lion's Mane, Melanaster, Nomuras, Phacellophora, Phyllorhiza, Porpita, Quinquecirrha, Rhizostoma, Rhopilema, Tiburonia, and Stygiomedusa. A map of the cluster territories can be found here.
WHERE DID THIS IDEA COME FROM?
This idea came from the very real concept of Aequorea City, by architect Vincent Callebaut. I find the idea of living on the water fascinating and thought it would make an interesting basis for my panfandom game. If you'd like more information on it, you can find that here.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?
Feel free to ask. We'll answer it and add it to the list!!
